Since the Grenfell tragedy, legislation has undergone major reform. The Fire Safety Act 2021 and Building Safety Act 2022 extended fire risk assessment responsibilities to include external walls, flat entrance doors, and more. 

New guidance under Section 156 of the Building Safety Act (effective from 1st October 2023) also increased accountability with heavier fines and clearer expectations for responsible persons.
