Fire and Security Estimator

The Estimator is a key role for our business, the Technical and Sales Teams. All quotations resulting from service or additional install works need to be assessed for their validity in relation to compliance and scope. The Estimator must liaise with the electrical and mechanical service teams to ensure accurate quote information is compiled and engage with the customer to ensure the quote is delivered on time and in full. The estimator must demonstrate excellent technical knowledge of Fire and Security requirements, with a strong desire for sales conversation and possess strong customer service skills to assist both internal and external customers. All aspects of management and administration to support smooth operations and all behaviours in support of our values must be evident throughout your employment.

The Technical Estimator will effectively validate, assess, process and accurately input group engineer recommendation reports from customer site visits into our quotation system. Once confirmed, and where relevant, quotations may require uploading to client portals.

Query Engineer recommendations for both mechanical and electrical works to ensure there is the correct technical specification to suit the site and customer requirements.

Utilise the quotation system to monitor the progress of quotes, and respond accordingly. Ensure quotes are updated to reflect status changes, and their progress is accurately tracked to ensure they are cited as converted or lost with clear narrative at each stage.

Respond to quotation queries from external customers across the group and ensure your product, technical and BS/NSI Standards knowledge is used to ensure the customer understands the scope and rationale of the quotation provided by the engineer and the company.

Ensure the customer is aware of quote requirement before issue and chase dispatched quotes to ensure the customer is comfortable with the specification, the pricing for the works and engage with the customer to ensure submitted quotes are converted.

Ensure pricing for product is competitive, liaise with internal departments to ensure quote price is in support of all relevant calculators and matrices.

Provide exceptional customer service throughout all interactions with internal and external customers, providing a solution based approach to quotation queries and ensuring all instances where obstacles are highlighted are discussed at the relevant levels internally.

Work collaboratively with a key departments and stakeholders including sales, compliance and operations. Provide analysis reports to determine business development opportunities, conversion rates, quote acceptance rates amongst other key reports.

Assist the Sales and Technical teams where required to ensure smooth and comprehensive quote delivery

  • GCSE or equivalent (preferred)

  • surveying: 2 years (required)
